Smart Data
Assigning rights at the file level. Ensuring data provenance & integrity. Securing digital ownership through identity. Protecting privacy.
Enabling the Smart Data economy revolution.
What is Smart Data?
Smart Data is a unique, decentralised file type and data management system for a web3 world.
When a file becomes Smart Data, its movement and behaviour across the Internet keeps track of the movement and behaviour of its inherent rights and restrictions, as determined by the owner and by law, and assigned at the file level. Your files and your data are fully yours to control and to protect.
Why do we need Smart Data?
Fundamentally, the digital world does not preserve the structure of value in the same way as the physical world.
If a digital object can simply be copied, it cannot retain its value. Nor can individuals exercise control of, or their rights to their data. Smart Data gives files identity, and places them on a legal footing.
This gives rise to a fully digital economy, fueled by data, fit for purpose in distributed marketplaces and metaverses.
Establishing Digital Rights
The digital world needs a way for rights to be transferred efficiently and securely across the Internet.
Digital rights can be extremely difficult to achieve, and often require huge amounts of legal manpower to implement to any degree of success. In the digital world enabled by Zenotta, digital rights are maintained and protected at a machine level, with each Smart Data file retaining these rights programmatically, defended by blockchain immutability & consensus. This means that rights can be assigned and transferred without engaging unnecessary legal procedures.
How does Smart Data work?
Unlike other blockchain resources or NFTs, Smart Data imbues off-chain data & files with “smart” web3 functionality: programmability and composability. This allows the owner to assign rights to the file at the binary level and build a real digital identity.
Smart Data utilises encryption & encoding via the Zenotta blockchain to place off-chain files under blockchain governance.
The Data Rights Signature (DRS) is a blockchain-based fingerprint which contains all the values required for an off-chain file to retain the properties of uniqueness, access & control, and privacy. It provides an unbreakable connection to the off-chain file, and when combined with the dual double entry blockchain ledger architecture, enables full data provenance and integrity.
Smart Data allows files to move as transactions over the Internet, via calls to the Zenotta blockchain.
The Smart Data protocol integrates with the fundamental structure of computer file systems and secures data & files as transactions, with full receipts, on the Zenotta blockchain via sets of compiled scripts & signatures. The Zenotta blockchain provides the first decentralized timestamp server for data.
